Healing enzymes within herbal tea leaves can suppress even a painful cough. Many types of herbal tea can help end a cough, but black tea and chamomile tea are considered the best.

To prepare the tea properly, pour hot water into a heat-resistant mug along with a tea bag of your choice.

Let the tea steep for about one minute and add a splash of lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey.

The lemon juice will help release the healing enzymes from the tea into the water, and the honey will help lubricate your throat to relieve inflammation. Drink slowly.

Garlic Cough Syrup
Many people think a garlic cough syrup is just as effective as the antitussives you can buy over the counter at a pharmacy. To prepare, chop a handful of garlic cloves and place them in a mason jar.
